CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Parent & Me Lv. 1 (6 months to 18 months) - Purpose of this is to allow swimmers with their parents to become more adjusted to aquatic movements and allow parents more freedom and education for the hom
Parents & Me lv. 2 (12 months to 24 Months)- Continuation of Lv. 1. This level allows the swimmers to explore more on their own and with an instructor. This class is designed to intruct the parents as well as the swimmers.
Starfish (24 months-3 years) - Swimmers begin their water experince for the first time completely without parent involment. Focus is more on personal safety and feeling very comfortable in the water.
Guppy(24 months-3 years)- Swimmer at this level will demonstrate more of the safety aspect of swimming by themselves as well as begin to swim Freestyle and be introduce to being on their back more often.
Angelfish(36 months- 6 years)- Swimmers continue the education for Backstroke and begin the technique of side breathing for Freestyle. Swimmers will also get a taste of lifeguarding skills by learning some rescue techniques.
Clownfish (3 years +) -Focusing on intermediate swimmers more, children will start to learn the basics for Breaststroke and treading water. The main focus will be mastering the skills for Backstroke.
Puffer fish (3 years +) - THis level of swimmer will focus on Breaststroke with fine tuning the Backstroke. Swimmers will be introduces to the butterfly stroke.
Catfish (4 years +) - Introduction of diving is offered at this level. Breaststroke becomes more common, while still working on Backstroke and Freestyle. Butterfly techniques and turns become common at this level as well.
Tuna- Free and Back (5 years +) - Students will continue work on mastering Freestyle and Backstroke through drills, body position and alignment. Needed to enter onto team. 1:5 class size.
Tuna- Breast and Fly (5 years +) - Students will
continue work on mastering Breaststroke and Butterfly through drills, body
position and alignment. Needed to enter onto team. 1:5 class size.
Jellyfish (5 years +) - Our top group; upon graduation from the Jellyfish group the student will be ready for Bakersfield Swim Club. Mastery skills will include all four competitive strokes with and understanding of the competitive turns. By invitation
Adult - It is never too late to learn how to swim. The goal is to reach a level of enjoyment and comfort in the water. All swimming strokes can be taught.
